Barrio Obispado

2022
Mixed use complex

Located between the Obispado area and the center of the city of Monterrey, a neighborhood delimited by high-flow commercial corridors in which single-family homes coexist with shops and businesses, there’s an evident absence of green areas as well as quiet and accessible public spaces. For this reason, Barrio Obispado, in addition to offering new shops and apartments, also seeks to contribute these spaces to its surrounding community.

In particular, Barrio Obispado proposes nine buildings that share a formal and structural language, which (through an orchestrated program that favors a diversity of uses and users) invite the community around them to the spaces of rest, coexistence and greenery that it offers ‒which, whether open to the public, private for each resident or some point in between, are always intuitive and accessible for anyone, including people with visual disabilities.
